The NPP at the ESTEC Open Days

The NPP joined the ESTEC Open Day on 12 October and what a success it was! This year, ESTEC celebrated its 50 year existence, drawing close to 10,000 people to the technical heart of the European Space Agency to Noordwijk, the Netherlands. The annual open day also marked the ending of the NL Space Week.

At the ESTEC premises the NL Space Tent is organised and funded by the Netherlands Space Office (NSO), where visitors were able to meet Dutch space industries, institutes and space-related associations. This year marked the first time the NPP had a stand to showcase some of the ongoing planetary research in the Netherlands, such as the Expertise Network and this summer’s field campaign in Iceland. Frank van Ruitenbeek (UTwente, ITC) and Sebastiaan de Vet (TU Delft) answered many questions about the hyperspectral camera, drone and fluorescent minerals that were on display.
